Counter-Coat Application Instructions
STEP 1.
Work in a ventilated room; do not
work near heat or flames. Clean
surfaces; remove any debris from
counter top areas.
STEP 8.
Blend the top coat material as
instructed per: "TOP COAT
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS".
STEP 2.
Sand the surface with the supplied
sanding paper. Wipe clean with
rags to remove any sanding dust
and debris. Fill fine cracks with latex
chaulk.
STEP 9.
Using the supplied squeegee
spread the top coating material
evenly over the counter area.
STEP 3.
Blend the base coat material as
instructed per: "BASE COAT
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS", Tape all
areas including floor to protect from
any spillage.
STEP 10.
Using the second supplied 4"
roller, roll out the top coating
material evenly over the counter
to area and the outer perimeter if
desired, do not over roll, this can
create bubbles.
STEP 4.
Using the supplied squeegee
spread the base coating material
evenly over the counter to area, clean
the squeegee well with a rag and
xylene, as you will need it in step 9:
DO NOT SOAK IN XYLENE. THIS
WILL DESTROY THE SQUEEGEE.
STEP 11.
Blend the top coat material as
instructed per: "TOP COAT #2
MIXING INSTRUCTIONS".
STEP 5.
Using the supplied 4" roller, roll out
the base coating material evenly
over the counter to area and the
outer perimeter.
STEP 12.
Using the supplied squeegee
spread the top coating material
evenly over the counter area.
STEP 6.
After the entire base coat has been
applied evenly, apply the decorative
flake chips in small amounts onto the
counter top. Apply the flake evenly
assuring even coverage.
STEP 13.
Using the third supplied 4" roller,
roll out the top coating material
evenly over the counter to area
and the outer perimeter if desired,
do not over roll, this can create
bubbles.
STEP 7.
After 24 hrs the excess flakes
can be removed and remaining
flake sanded to remove any high
or excessive flake to create a
smooth surface.
BASE COAT & TOP COAT #1 MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:
Rinse and dry the kit bucket with clean rag prior to mixing. Install the supplied mixing tool into a high-speed drill motor. Pour 1 part "B" (8oz) and 2 parts (16oz) of base coat part "A" using the measuring stick supplied with the kit, and add part "C" colorant to this mixture , follow the guidelines for the recommended mixing and coverage on the measuring stick.
TOP COAT #1: same as above but with no PART "C" added.
Mix thoroughly with the mixing tool for 3 minutes, paying close attention to all around the buckets sides and rising and lowering the mixing tool.
Immediately pour all mixed contents in a line on the countertop, after mixing you have up to 15 minutes working time@ 70° degrees (lower working time at higher temperature).
Mixing must be very thorough (3 minutes) or the coating will not cure and clean up and removal of the uncured epoxy will be costly and very time consuming.
TOP COAT #2 MIXING INSTRUCTIONS:
Stir A & B in cans, then mix 1 part "A" and 1 part "B"
(1:1 ratio by volume) stir thoroughly for 3 minutes
Do not apply below 50° degrees F.
Pot life (working time) once mixed is 15 minutes.
Surface to be coated must be clean, dry and sound.
For recoating, wait 8 hours.
Do not put enamel over Topcoat.
Do not exceed recommended wet film thickness 5 mils DFT.
